Whey is my Betta hiding?

I bought a male betta and a few tetra about a week ago, over the past couple of days he has started hiding under one of the plastic aquarium ornaments but seems fine he is swimming around and eating well is this behaviour normal for bettas as i have heard they are lazy and like to sit on the bottom of the tank?? any ideas?
