Is glucose a ionic or covalent compound? Why?

It seems to me that glucose has a crystal structure like Sodium cloride, so I would think that the bond is covelant. Of course, I am sure that you will get much better answers than this. Mine may even be wrong, and if it is. I hope that you are a better studant than I am a teacher.( I am an un-employed janitor)
